High on the mountains and in the deepest forests of Neopia, a certain neopet species has been keeping to itself for a long time…

These round, fluffy Neopets are known as Yumacks, and they're a cheerful, industrious sort. Most of their time is spent gathering food in the wilderness, and they all meet up in the fall to throw a great big party and judge who got the roundest before hibernating through the winter.

It turns out the Yumacks have had a bit of a population explosion this year, so they're travelling much further away from their homes in the mountains to find enough food to make it through the traditional hibernation. They're pretty fascinated by the fact that most Neopians don't sleep away the whole winter! Maybe you can befriend one and lend a paw.

With the arrival of the Yumack, shopkeepers all over Neopia are working hard to produce a variety of Yumack-related items! Kauvara's been busy brewing up potions, while other shopkeepers have been preparing plushies, toys, and delicious foods.



A big thank you to Blake for single-handedly recreating the Yumack in all poses with 34 colours and 90+ items, Hoorah!

As the weather warms up the nights get brighter... It's a lovely time of year to watch the sunset, and perhaps bring a friend or two!

A new discovery comes to Neopia from the rivers of Shenkuu! The Soreen of the rivers are much larger and brighter than their oceanic Petpet cousins. However, these Neopets have only been known in myth thanks to their rarity…

It was quite a shock when one day, several of these supposedly mythical Neopets flew into Neopia Central and started chattering with anyone who would respond to them!

As it turns out, while Soreen are mostly aquatic, these graceful fish gain the ability to fly if they can overcome the challenge of leaping over a waterfall, allowing them to come join the fun. And recently, a large school of Soreen has taken up residence underneath a very small waterfall, so that they can all make the leap! Now Soreen are turning up all over Neopia to check out what they’ve been missing out on this whole time!


If you would like to show one of these curious flying fish around the world and help them make new friends, there are plenty for everyone to adopt at the Waterfall Sanctuary.

And of course, to celebrate the new arrivals, Kauvara, the resident plushie makers, and even some chefs have made sure there are plenty of items both magical and mundane to celebrate their arrival!

Following a recent flurry of reports about some unusual-looking (and radically fashionable!) pets roaming Virtupets Station, we launched an investigation to find out where these strange new guests were coming from. While our team hasn't learned much beyond some whispers of "glitches" and "the digital world", we can now confirm that these pets are here to stay - and they're bringing their flashy styles with them! Everyone, say hello to Moderneo's very first original pet color: Retrowave!



Retrowave pets are the perfect companions for vintage enthusiasts, dance club partygoers, and glam rock headbangers alike! But for those of you who like brighter styles and slower living, have no fear; many of these new pets have alternate looks in the form of Pastel Retrowave, an alternate color available through the Genetic Modification Laboratory on Virtupets Station! And, of course, with Retrowave pets comes a slew of new items perfect for making your gallery feel like it was ripped fresh out of a rented VHS (don't forget to rewind that before you return it)!


This update brings more than just our first custom colour - it brings in a massive boatload of items to go with it! There's so much to explore that we cant even begin to show you all the goodies that have been added to the site, the best way you can check it yourself is using the site search and going to the last pages of the items and scrolling through them, all I can say is that you're in for a treat!



This includes a petpet paint brush and the ability to paint petpets in the same colour, so this is not only a release of our first ever custom colour but also our first ever custom petpet colour!

The retrowave petpets come in an alternate colour just like the pet counterparts which can only be obtained through the lab ray, so get zapping (or wishing)!


To further celebrate the release of our first custom colour we're also having our first custom themes, technically! These match the virtual and dreamlike pets that we now offer, and can be obtained either by painting a pet retrowave, or dipping it into the fountain to achieve the same result! A very large thank you to Deebs for making these amazing themes for us!
